She spent several of her graduate years as a teaching assistant in the Division of Business and Technical Writing while Fran Weeks was Director of the division. Upon graduation, she spent one year as a Visiting Lecturer in the same divisionafter which she abandoned academe and joined a large hotel corporation as a "Documentation Specialist" in the Information Systems Division of their International Headquarters located in Washington, D.C. Thus her interest in computer jargon.
